We have received an update and advice from Golf Australia about the new COVID rules for playing golf. This is a brief note so you know what is happening.
In short:
- Social golf can resume in groups of 4. Please use common sense for social distancing, etc
- Competition golf is not allowed until further notice.
- If you would like to play social golf on Tuesdays or Saturdays in place of competition golf, you are welcome to do so.
Here is the full update from Golf Australia from July 28 2021
Competitions
While there are some differing interpretations in the written government direction on competition, the government, through the Office for Recreation, Sport & Racing has confirmed to Golf Australia the following.
“SA Health is not willing to provide an exemption for golf so the directions stand; that there is to be no competition”
The narrative from government has been consistent in that competition sport is not permitted. Golf Australia continues to advocate for our sport, and in turn educate the various government offices on benefits of golf during the pandemic. It is imperative for the benefit of all clubs/facilities, that the sport is seen to be following the directives put in place by government at all times.
Spectators Sports
Spectators are only permitted to be present as a caregiver for a participant at training – only 1 caregiver per participant is permitted
