2024 Club Championships – Are You Going to Play?

The 2024 club championships are underway.  It has been a while since the full details of how it works have been shared with all members, so please read on….

The Club Championships are open to all members.  To participate, all you have to do is play 2 rounds of golf (stroke play) over the next 2 weeks of qualifying and submit your 2 cards.

Qualifying Rounds (weeks 1 and 2)

  • Days of play are
    • Week 1 Sun 21st July, Tues 23rd, Sat 27th,
    • Week 2 Sun 28th, Tues 30th, Sat 3rd Aug.
    • You must play 2 rounds over these days to enter the comp.  You can choose any 2 of these days to complete your 2 qualifying rounds (all in Wk1, all in Wk2, or one each week).
  • You must play with another member and have them mark and sign your card.  It doesn’t matter if the other member is entering the comp, or not.
  • You must nominate before tee off that the round you are about to play is for the competition.  Once you start, the card must be submitted as one of your two cards.  If you don’t nominate before tee off, you cannot change your mind later
  • You cannot nominate more than 2 rounds and choose the best 2 cards.  You must nominate 2 and only 2 rounds.
  • Both rounds must be stroke play.  You must keep stroke and Stableford scores as you would normally do for any comp game.

Play Off Rounds

On Saturday 3rd Aug, all submitted cards will be reviewed and the playoffs will be determined from the valid entries.

  • There will be A grade and B Grade playoffs over several weeks.
  • Playoffs will be Matchplay between those that qualify.
  • There are no handicaps used to determine the winners of the playoffs (or the overall club championships).  Just like in the US Open, it is the best player on the day that wins regardless of handicap.
  • Matchplay games are seeded. For example, 1st plays 8th, 2nd plays 7th, etc.
  • The winner of each match play game advances to the next round.  There may be bye rounds if needed, depending on numbers.
  • The final winner of the A grade is determined the club champion for 2024.
  • The final winner of the B grade will win some suitable prize (TBD).

In Summary

There are 4 days left for you to submit your 2 cards (Sat, Sun, Tues and Sat).  We would love to have as many people participate as possible.
